Economy Too ‘Fragile’ For 110 Ministers – Group

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s 110 ministers is too huge for the “fragile” economy to shoulder and should, therefore, be reduced to protect the public purse, the Movement for the Kingdom Image (MFKI) has said.

The Nana Akufo-Addo-led government holds the largest ministers in the history of the country with 110 in total, with 54 of them being deputy ministers.

But the MFKI, in a statement, said: “These many deputy ministers is a waste of resources and, therefore, must be scrapped and, possibly, in the days ahead if the economy starts to take flight, then we can strategically infuse some few deputy ministers in specific ministries where obviously one hand cannot take care, such as the education and health ministries.

“The economy is too fragile to shoulder these huge ministers whereas substantive ministers can do the work for the mean time.

“A country wallowing in its economic fortunes does not set such an extravagant size of government and still keep promising heaven on earth.”

MFKI, therefore, entreated Mr Akufo-Addo to reverse his decision and revoke the appointments of the 54 deputy ministerial nominees to show his commitment to protecting the national purse.
